As we close out 2014, and welcome a brand new 2015, it’s time we take a look at the next few days in terms of weather. New Year’s Eve, tomorrow, will be a typical late December day, with highs only in the mid-30s under mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. If you are heading out and about for some New Year’s celebrations tomorrow evening, expect dry conditions with temps falling into the 20s. I am expecting a Midnight temperature of 28 degrees in our area, and 31 degrees or so in Times Square. New Year’s Day will feature partly cloudy skies with highs in the mid-30s, and the same can be said for Friday.
Now, as we approach the weekend, we look to be dealing with some sort of storm system. Current computer forecast models point to a storm developing in the Gulf states, and then tracking north into the Great Lakes region and Ohio Valley. This type of scenario allows warm air to flood the region, or at least air that is warm enough for rain and not snow, but we may deal with some snow or a wintry mix before we turn over to rain. The bulk of this storm comes Saturday night into the day on Sunday, with clearing expected Sunday night. You can see this in the 5 Day Forecast I posted below.
