I hope you had a wonderful Holiday Weekend! After our cold front-Hurricane Arthur rain back during the first part of Friday, the weather has been absolutely spectacular. Well now, we see an uptick in the humidity levels, as well as the mercury, meaning we turn up the heat for Monday, just in time for the start of camp and work! For Monday, you can expect mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies with a high temp of 90. While unlikely, you can’t rule out a stray afternoon storm. Monday night will feature partly cloudy skies with a warm low of 70 degrees. For your Tuesday, you can expect hot and sticky conditions. Our high will top out near 91, and Tuesday will also contain a better chance for afternoon thunderstorms, so keep that in mind. Tuesday night will feature partly cloudy skies with a low near 70. Wednesday looks to be humid as well, but slightly cooler. Expect partly to mostly cloudy skies with PM storms around. Expect a high of 87. Wednesday night will feature evening showers or storms, followed by clearing conditions with a low of 64. Thursday looks to be beautiful, with mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies and a high near 85. Mainly clear skies are expected for Thursday night with a low of 62. The workweek looks to end bright and summer-like, with mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies with a high near 86. Mainly clear skies are expected Friday night with a low near 63.
Weather Across the United States
Currently, the nation is relatively quiet in terms of weather. We do have thunderstorm activity across Iowa, with severe weather possible across the Midwest during the early part of the workweek. The Southern Plains, from Texas to the East Coast, including the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, and into Southern New England, will be feeling the heat, with upper 80s and 90s all over the place. The Southwest will see its typical heat of 90s and 100s, as well as interior California. The northern tier of the country, from the Pacific Northwest, to Northern New England will be feeling more comfy conditions as temps will be in the 70s and 80s. No big storm systems are really expected, other than your typical afternoon thunderstorms where the heat exists. Always be prepared for severe weather.
Tropics
Following the departure of Hurricane Arthur, which affected the entire East Coast and Atlantic Canada, the Atlantic basin has returned to a quiet state. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is monitoring an area of disturbed weather right off the east coast of Florida, but they note that upper level winds should prohibit significant development, and only give the system a 10% chance of development during the next 5 days. In the Eastern Pacific, an area of disturbed weather well off the coast of Central America has a 20% chance of development over the next 5 days, and the NHC says development is possible. Another area well off to its west, has a 10% chance of development over the next 5 days. Development is a little less likely with this one. The Central Pacific is quiet, but not the Northwest Pacific. Super Typhoon Neoguri is churning with winds of 150 mph, equivalent to a Category 4 hurricane. Neoguri poses a serious threat to Okinawa Island, obviously, as well as Japan over the coming days. The world is watching Neoguri. An area of disturbed weather may develop in the Central Indian Ocean.
